How to select good shares

An article to guide investors how to select good and strong shares from the stock market. 
     Selecting a particular share from the long list of shares in the stockmarket is a very difficult task.  If we think to decide on the stock as per the recommendations of the experts through various media, each one of such recommendations is different. Which one would be actually correct and which one would fetch good earnings?

     The price variation of stocks is not happening in accordance with one person's opinion or emotion, but rather, it is as per the collective opinion and emotions of a huge crowd involved in share trading.  Therefore, choosing shares in accordance with the opinion and emotion of majority is obviously a very difficult task.

    This matter is like a contest which is said to have conducted by a newspaper years ago.  In the contest, the newspaper had published pictures of 100 girls and the contestants had to select top 6 glamorous girls from the given picture gallery.  Who will be the top 6?  The answer might be quiet interesting.  The glamorous 6 girls who have been selected by more number of contestants would be here the bench mark and the contestant who select the 6 girls from the picture that are more suitably matching the benchmark will the winner in this contest.  It might seem easy though, in fact, the process is a very difficult and confusing task.

     Some problems are lying hidden in this which lead contestants confused.  Selecting the top 6 glamorous girls from 100 pictures as per our taste is the first hurdle.  It would have been an easy task, if the selection was only as per our own taste.  But the problem here is we have to select top 6 not only as per our own taste, but also it must match with the taste of majority.  Therefore, here, we will have to look beyond our taste that what the majority will be thinking while choosing top 6.  Another core issue in this matter is the question ‘what is the criterion of beauty’.  This measurement also varies in the eyes of each person.
 
     This is the same confusion when an investor trying to select a handful shares from the listed companies.  But the matter will become simpler if it is asked to select top performing share instead of asking to select the top profitable shares.  Top 6 shares can be easily selected after reviewing the basic information of the company or studying its price charts.  But if these shares have to provide good earning, the majority feeling also must be in favor of the company.  The problem is not only similar to the confusion of a contestant while he selects the top six glamorous girls from the given 100 pictures, but also it is like the criterion of shares as well as of beauty is varies on each person.
Some people prefer shares that give good dividend yield while some others prefer to choose the share that have good intrinsic value.  Some other investors are interested the stocks that has fine growth rate while some others are looking for shares with good market value.  The answer for why we couldn't make good earning, in spite of we have invested in seemingly strong shares, is also the same.

     It is not top 6 as per your own opinion, but it must be top six as per the majority's opinion that will take us to the real success.
